I couldn't survive without Yelp and Kudzu, more Kudzu then Yelp though. When we were remodeling our kitchen we relied heavily on Kudzu to find the right granite company. One of the big ones downtown that boasts the cheapest prices in town had horrible reviews and they didn't even respond to defend themselves.

When we finally found a place in Roswell that we felt comfortable with we told them that we chose them because of their great reviews on Kudzu. They followed up to make sure that we were happy and even gave us a discount for doing a write-up on Kudzu based on our experience with them.

Nice, well written article. Thanks for sharing. Like you I too have no phone books and pretty exclusively use Kudzu or Yelp and of course a good word-of-mouth referral. A business with no web site or a really poor website is a real turn off. I'll also say that I'm OK if a business gets a bad review on Kudzu when you see someone from the company explaining their side of things. To me that demonstrates that they understand the value of the web and are paying very close attention to what their customers say.
